In what ways can we capture and best define what it is to be human? Is the classical distinction between mind and body a good basis for determining our essential and non-essential traits? As human animals we have a great deal in common with other members of the animal kingdom, and yet there are a number of differences, which some philosophers consider to be of prime importance in coming to an understanding of the human condition. Are they right? These questions will be explored in this philosophical exploration of what it is to be human.
