This session explores the topic of proper names — the name we use to pick out one, unique, individual person. What is the meaning of a name; to what does it refer (particularly in the case of long-dead historical figures)? Do proper names really matter or could we get on very easily without them? What is the effect and significance of forgetting, mispronouncing or misspelling someone’s name? What happens when people change their name, or are referred to only as a number?
There are two documents in the zip file for this session: A lesson plan and children’s follow-up activities.
